On Her Own
Madie has been asking Jeff to take her training wheels off for sometime now, but we didn't get around to it, because there was snow on the ground and she wasn't even riding her bike. Now that spring is starting to come the kids have been out playing in the driveway and riding bikes. Madie finally asked dad to take off her training wheels again this last weekend. Jeff took them off and then they practiced driving around the driveway. She still has a long way to go, but she made some strides. She needs a little practice using the brakes instead of taking her feet completley off the pedals and crashing, but she will get the hang of it. She was proud of her self and is excited to keep practicing.

Your kids are really very cute! The pictures you take are amazing too! I need some lessons I think!
Thank goodness spring is here!

I just showed Rowdy the pictures and he said "Cool" and Avery said "Because, she's a big girl!"
Way to go Madie!
We discovered that making them higher gets them in the hang of things. So they don't depend on them? Does that make sense? With Grant we just keep lifting them up and one day just took them off and off he went. Much easier! The brakes are tricky though!
Glad spring is headed your way!
Look at her smile in that last picture!! :)
It's always so exciting to see them learning new things and being so excited for it.
It is so funny to me how quickly kids pick things like this up. Jonah really struggled for a few days without his training wheels and then was so upset that he forgot about it for a week. The next time he got on his bike, he could ride it like he had always known how. I couldn't believe it! Good luck!
What a big step! Can you have your Madie teach my Maddie???
She is so brave. We took Kathleen's off last year and finally caved and put them back on toward the end of the summer when she still wasn't getting it. Maybe this year will be luckier.
