Soccer

Having two kids in sports is pretty busy. They each have on practice a week (that's two nights a week total) and they both have games every Saturday (that's two games every Saturday). I honestly don't know how people do it that have more than that in sports at one time. Madie and Ethan are both having a great time playing though.

Madie has had the oppurtunity to be the goalie a couple of times and has liked playing that position, but she can also run her heart out and gives it her all trying to get that ball in the other teams goal. It is a little different this year because they actually have one of the girls play goalie where as last year there was no goalie. It sure makes a difference in the scoring and the girls are getting more exposure to playing real positions. She has some really great girls on her team and her coach is very knowledgable and is a good teacher.

Watching Ethan's team is almost comical at times, the age makes all the difference. At times it is like watching a bunch of bees chase after a beehive they all just run in a swarm trying to get the ball. Ethan is improving at practice, but most of the time during the game he is usually just running around chasing the other boys down the field. He made a goal last week and we were so proud of him. He always has fun out there and always gets excited when his other team members score. I am glad we had him play this year I think it is a great experience for him and hopefully he will gain self confidence and learn about the importance of working as a team.

Swim Lessons

I have to preface this post with a little background info about my kiddos, they are not waterbabies. I know there are kids that take to water like fish, but that would not describe my kids at all. Madie and Ethan were super excited about starting swim lessons and can I say how proud I am of them. Both had very kind and sweet teachers and during the course of their two week lessons, both of them improved so much and their confindence in the water did too. By the end of the lessons both went off the dive board in the deep end. We were lucky enough to find out that they were offering a free week of swim lessons to those who signed up, so now the kids will get an extra week free here coming up and they couldn't be happier about it. Madie and Ethan I am soooo proud of you.

Playing Catch Up

It seems like forever since I actually posted anything about what has been going on here. The last two weeks have been pretty busy, it seems like there has been something at least everyday and night. So here is a ton ten of what we've been up to:

1) Madie had her last soccer practice and game. The weather was nice for her last game, she scored two goals and all the girls recieved trophies after. Madie loves her trophie and had a great time playing soccer. We will for sure be signing her up again.

2) I hosted preschool two weeks ago, we also had our preschool fieldtrip that same week. Ethan and I had fun spending time together. It was crazy having six four year old boys here, but we survived know I just need to start planning for my next turn.

3) We went to the pumpkin patch as a family and it was a little bit of an adventure finding some pumpkins we liked this year. We went for ice cream after which just might have been the kids favorite part of our "Family Fun Night".

4) We had our ward Trunk or treat this last weekend. We all enjoyed potluck chili and soups. The kids had fun at the fishing pond, cake walk, and the costume parade. We then headed out to the parking lot for "Trunk or treating". The kids walked away with some good candy and we all had fun.

5) I had enjoyed taking some pictures of some really great families. It was great practice and I learned alot.

6) The weather has been beautiful for the last two weeks so we have had fun going to parks, for walks, for bikerides, and watching the leaves change colors. We even attempted to take our own family picture (I bought a tripod and a remote), let's just say it didn't go exactly like planned.

7) Landon is phasing out of morning naps I'm afraid. It's been days since he's taken one (not for a lack of trying on my part). I have mixed feelings about this. Is he really old enough for just one? I am going to miss that morning time to myself while Ethan is at preschool and Landon used to nap. On the positive side it will be easier to run errands while Ethan is at school, and I guess we will have to start going to the library again.

8) Jeff continues to play soccer every week, I have Young Womens every week, and I continue to go into Madie's class every other week. I have a babysitting swap so either I am helping out in the class or babysitting kids. It seems to be working out well and Madie really looks forward to when I come in, so do I.

9) Landon is as busy as ever and is sporting some nice new molars in his mouth. One of his new favorite foods is grapes. He has also started waving his hand in the air and making monkey type sounds when he wants something (when is this kid going to start talking already). Jeff and I are counting down only about a month left until nursery.

10) Madie is officially on her third chapter book. Jeff and I take turns reading with her everynight after the other kids are in bed. She loves the special time and she is really a great little reader. Ethan is obsessed with Spiderman and loves wearing his costume. Both Madie and Ethan are super excited for Halloween.

Soccer Practice

So last Thursday Madie had soccer practice and they were also going to be taking there team pictures. It was a crazy couple of days at the end of last week because Jeff was out of town and Thursday night was the busiest. Madie got home from school, an hour later we were eating dinner, then we were getting her soccer uniform on, then it was get everyone out to the car, grabbing water bottles, chairs, the camera, and the stroller. Madie looked so cute in her soccer pictres, I snuck up behind the lady that was taking the pictures and took some of my own. Madie is loving soccer and is doing so well. I will put up some pictures real soon of her game on Saturday where she scored three yes three goals right in a row. We were so proud of her and her team for winning and they were even short players.

Sporty Spice

So I am going to say this first and foremost I am totally not a sports photographer at all hopefully someday I will be able to take an awesome action shot but for now here are some medicore pictures of Madie at her first soccer game that was on Saturday. She had a fun time and worked her little booty off trying to get the ball. Her team did score some goals but lost to the other team. Oh well winning isn't the point it's learning to play a game, have fun in the process, make new friends, and feel proud of yourself for giving it your all. With that said I hope they win a game adventually it would be fun to see and even better if she scored a goal. It's funny to see that she has such a competitive side. I'm glad she had fun and we were super proud of her.
